Improving Services for Youth at Risk in the Russian Federation

Country: Russia
Canadian Project Director: Maryana Nikoula
Funder: Canadian International Development Agency
Project dates: January 2005 - September 2009

Description: The Improving Services to Youth at Risk in the Russian Federation Project (YAR Project) is a four-year multi-dimensional project, funded by Canadian International Development Agency. The goal of the YAR project is to facilitate the social integration of youth at risk and their families and to introduce children’s rights as the standard by which the provision of services to youth at risk is assessed in the social, judicial, educational and other spheres of public life. It consists of five major components including pilot projects, capacity building for key stakeholders, partnership and coordination, research and analysis, and awareness raising. The project looks at the issues faced by youth from a local, regional and national perspective and includes Russian authorities, service providers and NGOs at all levels. It targets six regions of Russia, while also addressing the national/federal level stakeholders, with a view to laying the groundwork for an integrated, coherent system of services provided to youth at risk in Russia, and involving young in the system.
