Formation des formateurs en santé

Canadian partner:Université de Montréal
Developing country partner: Université Saint-Joseph de Beyrouth
Project duration:December 1996 - August 2001

Project purpose:
The objective of the project was to assist in the development of primary health care in Lebanon.

Key results to date:
Through the project, the Institut de gestion de la santé et de protection sociale was created and made operational and the educational curriculum in family medicine was strengthened, as were doctors' and nurses' family medicine skills. As well, nursing research can now be conducted during training, preventive health is being promoted in all regions and the capacity of public and para-public institutions to assume their responsibilities for health care and monitoring has been revitalized. The strengthening of teams in the medical (family medicine) and nursing faculties has produced a level of autonomy adequate to pursue the changes initiated in Lebanon's health care system.
