Research Stories

What's the value of university research? For many it might seem like a simple question with a straightforward answer about the profound social, economic and cultural impact of academic investigation. Canadians seem convinced that university-based research is important, infusing and informing all aspects of our lives, and leading to enhanced prosperity and a better quality of life.

But while Canadians say we do value research, we still want to know more about the impact of new scientific discoveries on Canada's society.

Canadian universities and various organizations that fund research publish magazines, websites, electronic newsletters and other vehicles to help address the public's need for more information.

AUCC has created an online research compendium of stories from these vehicles. By showcasing great writing, great stories, but most importantly, great research, this compendium demonstrates the value of university research and illustrates how these institutions help us better understand diverse cultures and society, enhance our health, and boost our economy.
