York U is fully engaged with its surrounding communities and is making a considerable impact through experiential learning and research.

Osgoode Hall Law School, Canada’s pre-eminent law school, is another one of York U’s professional schools and is the largest and oldest common-law law school in the country. York U is also home to the new Lassonde School of Engineering, which empowers its students to solve problems by creating solutions that reflect social, environmental and economical awareness. Lassonde is proud to offer Canada’s only Space Engineering program. York U is recognized for its leadership in liberal arts, business, law, environmental studies, education and fine arts, and has one of the largest graduate schools in Ontario, educating more than 6,000 graduate students in master’s, doctoral and professional programs.

York U has 28 research centres where researchers break down traditional academic boundaries and pursue projects with a particular emphasis on collaboration across disciplines. Researchers at York U engage colleagues at other institutions, at non-governmental organizations, across industries and within community groups (at the local, national and international levels) to ensure their approach is relevant to, and has impact on, the world at large.

At York U, student experience is a priority both inside and outside the classroom. With more than 280 partnerships with international universities, York U encourages students to study abroad for a semester to enrich their academic experience and global outlook. With more than 250,000 alumni around the world, York U graduates come away thinking bigger, broader and more globally, infused with a desire and willingness to contribute to society.
