Profil

The University of Windsor (UWindsor) is a progressive student-centred university, where the challenges of communities and of a world in transition inform the education we provide, the research we do, and the creative endeavours we pursue. The University of Windsor is committed to the highest intellectual standards and a commitment to applying teaching, research, and creative activity to issues of importance to the world.

Now entering its most ambitious capital expansion since its founding in 1963, UWindsor is constructing a new state-of-the-art 300,000-square-foot, $112-million Centre for Engineering Innovation, a building that will establish revolutionary design standards across Canada and beyond. UWindsor also has a Medical Education Building which houses the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry – Windsor Program. The buildings are two of the touchstones for our tagline, ‘Thinking Forward’.

The University of Windsor is located 15 minutes from the start of Highway 401 or Michigan’s I-75, and faces one of Canada’s most beautiful waterfronts on the Detroit River. Our location speaks to UWindsor’s greatness as an internationally oriented, multi-disciplined institution that actively encourages a broad diversity of students, faculty and staff. Those strengths vault it to the forefront of Canadian universities in the creation of an awareness and appreciation of difference — difference in ethnic backgrounds, difference in cultures and difference in dreams.

Every year more than 16,000 students achieve their personal and professional goals on campus. The campus’ characteristics of openness, warmth and support make it an exceptionally welcoming community for students and faculty from Canada and around the world. In 2011, UWindsor President Alan Wildeman will be proud to graduate its 100,000th student.
