Profil

Located in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, St. Thomas More College (STM) is proud to be a Catholic, liberal arts college, federated with the University of Saskatchewan.

Founded by the Basilian Fathers in 1936, STM is open to students of all backgrounds. It is an inclusive community with a strong tradition of caring for students as whole persons, and concern for social justice.

Working in partnership with the College of Arts and Sciences at the U of S, STM teaches classes in the humanities and social sciences.

As a federated college, STM is academically integrated with the University of Saskatchewan. That means STM offers U of S credit classes that students take as part of their U of S degrees; any U of S student may take STM classes; STM professors are fully qualified and accredited; any on-campus Arts and Science student may officially self-declare as an STM. (Such a student will officially become an STM student, but will still be an Arts and Science student at the U of S.)

Distinct areas of programming are: community service-learning; Catholic studies minor; social justice and the common good minor; Jewish and Christian origins minor; STM philosophy major/honours; classical, medieval, and Renaissance studies (CMRS) major/minor in partnership with arts and science; Ukrainian studies minor; social sciences (anthropology, archaeology, economics, political studies, psychology, sociology); humanities (history, languages and linguistics, philosophy, religious studies); and Prairie Centre for the Study of Ukrainian Heritage.

Created in 1998, the Prairie Centre for the Study of Ukrainian Heritage (PCUH) is an academic unit of St. Thomas More College, University of Saskatchewan. As an anchor for Ukrainian Studies at the University of Saskatchewan, PCUH supports course offerings in this area while engaging in research and projects that promote a wider understanding and appreciation of the Ukrainian experience in Canada and abroad.
