Profil

Luther College is a corporation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada, and it has two campuses in Regina, one of which is a federated college at the University of Regina. Luther College’s academic courses and student services are fully integrated with the University of Regina, but the college is administratively and financially independent. Luther College aims to provide a strong liberal arts education within a closely-knit, supportive community. Through academic offerings, residences and student life programs, the college provides an environment that fosters not only academic growth, but also spiritual development and community involvement.

Luther offers a variety of courses in arts, fine arts and science. Luther courses are open to all students on the University of Regina campus, and Luther students have access to all University of Regina courses, including courses offered by two other federated colleges, and they pay the same tuition fees as other University of Regina students. Students can also enrol in pre-professional studies at the college before seeking admission into professional programs.

Luther College’s professors possess graduate degrees from across North America and Europe, and they are actively engaged in scholarly work in their respective fields of specialization. Luther’s professors are well-known on campus for their teaching expertise and their care for students. The college is renowned for its student-centered academic advising staff. Faculty and staff at Luther College are committed to helping students realize their academic goals and fulfill their potential.

Luther opens its doors to all students regardless of their religious or cultural backgrounds.

All faculty members at Luther College have active research programs. Current research projects include end-of-life care for persons of Aboriginal ancestry, abuse of intimate partners, sexual practices and health of teenagers and young adults, First Nations perspectives and practices around health and healing, post-traumatic stress disorder, spiritual practices and health, interreligious dialogue, feminist scholarship, Renaissance and early-modern studies, 18th-century theatre, commonwealth literature, science and technology, fluid flows, sustainability, political ecology in Ghana, and Latin American revolutions. Most faculty are actively involved in undergraduate- and graduate-student thesis supervision. One of Luther College’s strengths is its focus on undergraduate teaching and mentoring, which create opportunities for undergraduates to obtain research experience. The college provides a variety of funding opportunities to encourage student research.
