Profil

Algoma University is a thriving undergraduate university located in the scenic, lively city of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, at the heart of the Great Lakes along the Canada-U.S. border.

Algoma University offers more than 30 undergraduate degree program options and emphasizes a balance of teaching and research priorities to optimize interaction between faculty and students. Algoma University strives to be a university of international distinction, enriching generations of diverse cultures and communities.

At Algoma, you will never be in a class of more than 65 students, even in first-year! Our interactive learning environment serves a community of over 1,300 students, including nearly 15 percent Anishinaabe (First Nation, Inuit and Métis) and almost 10 percent
international students. In addition to the 17:1 student-to-faculty ratio, students benefit from undergraduate research opportunities, student advocacy groups, opportunities for cooperative education, a recreation centre, multiple student housing options and international exchange programs. Students enjoy all of this while being a part of a learning community that provides every student with an opportunity to be a leader and to experience success.

Algoma University engages actively in its local community through partnerships and participation with the Sault Ste. Marie Innovation Centre, Economic Development Corporation, local industries, and federal and provincial research facilities.

With its growth in recent years, the university has embraced capital expansion, including a new student residence, student centre, a new Information Communication and Technology Centre and a brand new Biosciences and Technology Convergence Centre which opened in September 2011. The Downtown Student Centre was opened in the fall of 2010, which includes an upper-year residence and the University Medical Clinic.
