Student assistance
Undergraduate: Victoria offers more than 130 admission scholarships to outstanding secondary students and more than 500 in-course awards. Several special admission awards that consider financial circumstances and extra curricular activities are also available. Students who achieve high academic standing after first, second or third year receive awards of up to $1,000 and the college also distributes $500,000 annually to help students in financial need.

Graduate: Emmanuel College offers admission scholarships in the form of a tuition waiver for ten-credit courses to outstanding postsecondary students. Students who achieve outstanding academic averages upon the completion of ten- and twenty-credit courses are awarded a tuition waiver scholarship for up to ten-credit courses. More than 80 in-course scholarships and prizes are also available on the basis of scholastic standing and in light of the terms of the awards. The college distributes $175,000 annually to help students in financial need. Scholarships are also available for the advanced degree program.

University research

Victoria University, through its theological college, Emmanuel, conducts research on topics related to religion, values and ethics. Preparation of individuals to go into communities and churches across the country is part of the mission. At Victoria College, an arts and science college, most research is carried on by professors whose appointments are in a department in the University of Toronto. However, in the area of renaissance and reformation studies, Victoria is undertaking to establish a collaborative graduate program in early modern studies. In the first-year offerings of the college, emphasis is placed on developing students’ research skills through small-class experiences. Researchers and students find that the college’s library and the library system of the University of Toronto offer unparalleled resources to facilitate scholarship.

International education

Victoria University participates fully in the international education initiatives of the University of Toronto. All Victoria students are eligible for consideration of the many exchange opportunities established by the University of Toronto. In addition to the opportunities through the wider university, Victoria offers some funding to assist students with meeting the costs of going abroad. Over the next few years, the university will be developing resources that will allow any academically qualified student to apply and receive some support for travel in their third year. This support might range from aiding students in conference participation, in conducting research projects, in travelling to outside destinations associated with their course work in Toronto to more traditional study abroad programs. There are a limited number of positions available at Victoria University for international students.
