Profile

Campion College is a Catholic community of learning in the Jesuit tradition at the University of Regina. It provides a liberal arts education dedicated to the development of the whole person — intellectually, spiritually, socially – for service within contemporary society. Campion students have the opportunity to obtain a University of Regina degree within a unique environment: distinguished faculty and academic programs, extraordinary support for students and a 450-year Jesuit tradition of excellence in education.

A federated college of the University of Regina, Campion offers students access to the innovative programs and services of a larger university campus with all the advantages of a small student body, and a personalized approach to higher education. Campion provides a university experience characterized by a strong sense of community and ongoing commitment to personal, innovative and creative approaches to higher education. The Jesuit philosophy of cura personalis, (care for the whole person) is reflected in the college’s encouragement of students to pursue a well-rounded approach to their education.

Campion College is a co-educational institution which accepts students of all faiths. The college and university are located in Wascana Centre, one of the largest urban parks in North America.

Student facilities and services

Personal support services
Campion campus ministry provides personal and spiritual counselling, a peer support network and centre, worship services, reflection and discussion groups, interfaith activities, volunteer placement, and a friendly and nurturing space for those who need spiritual and emotional comfort. Students do not have to be Roman Catholic to attend Campion College or to use the services of the campus ministry. The informative and spiritual setting allows students to question and formulate their own spiritual values. In addition, Campion students have full access to the range of personal support services offered by the University of Regina.

Academic support services
Campion College faculty and staff work hard to provide students with the support they need to achieve their goals. From the moment prospective students consider an academic program to the day they convocate with a degree, Campion offers a variety of invaluable student services, including: academic counselling and registration, peer and faculty mentoring programs, writing centre, library, students’ union, and a generous scholarship and bursary program. Our library is integrated with the University of Regina’s; it focuses on women’s studies, Jesuit history and spirituality, and religious studies. Students can do Internet research at stations in the library, and wireless Internet is available throughout Campion. In addition to all of the college’s offerings, Campion students have full access to the impressive range of services offered by the University of Regina.

First-year student programs

University research

Campion is a small institution, with a relatively young faculty deeply committed to and active in their research projects. They hold various grants from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada and the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada. More significantly, they also have a reputation for teaching excellence and concern for their students, which is of primary importance at the college. Among the research projects being conducted by Campion professors are studies focusing on cognition, which have practical applications in the schools and in clinical counselling; the analysis of election results and political trends; Catholic studies; astronomy; and holocaust studies. A number of faculty are involved in research into ancient and medieval thought and culture, an area of study that is significant in understanding our society.

International education

Our international agreements for faculty and student exchanges are all done in conjunction with the University of Regina. Please see the University of Regina chapter for more information. Campion College provides study tour courses abroad and has an international students’ association to welcome our international students.
