Several scholarships are available to international students in first year. Numerous in-course scholarships are also available to students achieving a minimum average of 80 percent. Students in financial need are also eligible to apply for entrance and work/study bursaries at Brescia University College.
University research
Brescia faculty are engaged in independent research and collaborative projects with faculty at both Brescia and The University of Western Ontario. Brescia is a leading institution for “service learning” in Canada, specifically in the Community Development program. Professors provide opportunities for students to bridge classroom learning with the community, while providing real-life experiences to more theoretical study. Students develop their individual values, sense of social responsibility and leadership skills, while engaging in community projects related to their studies. Faculty within the Foods and Nutrition program are also involved in leading research, including a study on childhood obesity in Canada and a groundbreaking project developing probiotic yogurt.
Across disciplines, students are encouraged to assist faculty with their research through placements made possible through a work-study program. Faculty have engaged students in meeting their research objectives while providing them with interesting working opportunities.
International education
Brescia’s international students make up over 10 percent of Brescia’s full-time enrollment. Programming to support international students runs throughout the academic year. Brescia students are active participants in exchange programs across various countries and continents. As part of The University of Western Ontario exchange partnerships, Brescia students can embark on exchange programs with more than 50 universities across the world. Brescia also has signed a number of "unique" exchange programs to support its students.
Traditionally students seek exchange programs in their third year of study. By participating in an established exchange program, tuition fees are paid to Brescia, thereby reducing the cost of attending another institution. Each fall Western hosts an International Opportunities Fair which showcases a diverse range of opportunities from teaching English in Japan, to attending school in Australia, to volunteering in Africa or Central America.
